Chuck VanVoorhis honored in TV Program

The Japanese Broadcasting Company from New York City came to Marion on April 23  to interview and film Chuck VanVoorhis.

They interviewed him about the Vietnam War and how his experiences affected him then and through the years to follow. This broadcast is the equivalent of our 60 Minutes program.

Also, a part of the program included the story of Kim Phuc Phan Thi who at a young age was known as the Napalm Girl. The story explained the trauma and experiences from a civilian perspective and a Marine’s perspective. The episode was not be aired in the US, however, it was shared with our congregation.

We will pass that on to anyone who is interested! Chuck’s Vietnam War Experience traveling museum will be May 10-11 at the American Legion on Olney Avenue.

Trail of Easter—April 1-20

The “Trail of Easter” provides a fun way for families to experience the story of Holy Week and the Resurrection from the convenience of their own car. The route is mapped out for you and will take you past different locations where objects relating the story are placed for you to find as you drive by. You’ll stay in your car and spot the items from the road, Scripture passages will be available to read on the map handout. Maps will be available March 30.

New Teen/Young Adult Study

Join Emily Sharp for a time of conversation and digging into God’s Word. All High School students and young adults are encouraged to join us following worship for this 6-week study. We will meet in the Crusader’s classroom (beside the kitchen) and take a look at the “Being Human” study from RightNow Media, exploring cultural stories shaping our world and seeking Biblical answers to what it means to be a human being. We will keep our time to 45 min (15 min video and 30 min discussion). Contact Emily with any questions.

Spaghetti Dinner is March 8—Come Join the Fun!

The annual spaghetti dinner and auction will soon be upon us.

Please save Saturday, March 8th at 5 pm for the big event! This year, in honor and

memory of our beloved Jim McGuire, the auction will have a nautical theme.

The proceeds will be funneled into the youth ministry program at Salem.

We need every member of the church to make this event successful.

Please consider donating items for both the silent and live auction. There is a

table at the back of the church where you can bring your items.

Help will be needed for the following: kitchen, set up, check in/out,

contacting businesses. Please see Kelly Wagner or Conni McChesney.

If you know former youth and adults who were involved with the youth

ministry over the years, please invite them. We would love to hear how time

spent in the Salem youth group impacted their lives and why it is so important

to invest in our young people!

Be sure to invite friends and family! It’s a very fun evening!
